Negreanu Grabs Lead at EPT Vienna

The finest of them all rose to the top at the end of Day 2 at the European Poker Tour Vienna main event, as Canadian pro Daniel Negreanu found himself atop the tournament leaderboard. Negreanu amassed nearly 900,000 chips, giving him a significant lead over the rest of the field.

Eighty players remain heading into the 3rd day of EPT Vienna, and all remaining players will make money in the event. The bubble player – and the last player to exit on Day 2 was Gianni Giaroni, who got his money into the pot with AK, only to run into AA.

But many other notable players also hit the rail on the second day, including tennis pro Boris Becker, defending champion Pascal Perrault, and online superstar Tom Dwan. A few big names are still in contention, including Tomer Berda and Martin Hruby.

However, there’s no doubt that the star attraction is the chip leader. Daniel Negreanu built a huge stack in part because he received pocket aces on three occasions, as well as by making a very fortunate set on the river in another huge pot.
